October 20th AMP Meeting

If you are interested in AMP please email Amy at and we will find

a way to get you plugged in!

October 20, 2020

6:00 PM - IN PERSON meeting with youth in shelter
7:00 PM - IN PERSON meeting with youth in cottages

This week the youth will get the opportunity to participate in the Talking Wall for AMP. The purpose of the Talking Wall is to provide teens in foster care and juvenile justice system with the chance to speak out and speak up about what they want to see from the system, by asking them to tell us one thing they would like to see happen to improve Iowa's Foster Care and/or Juvenile Justice system. Their ideas will be shared with lawmakers and advocates. We need your voice!  We will be taking extra precautions (masks, social distancing, and cleaning) to ensure the safety of our youth.

We are AMP Iowa

What is AMP?

AMP is a youth-driven, statewide group of youth aged 13-21 that seeks to unleash the full potential for personal growth among foster and adoptive children in Iowa. AMP offers leadership opportunities, service learning projects, speaking opportunities, support and educational/vocational assistance. AMP meetings are a time to gain valuable life skills youth need to become self–sufficient, independent adults and to learn about local resources and socialize while in a supportive environment of youth with similar experiences.

AMP is available for youth who have ever been in an out-of-home placement (foster, kinship, adoptive, shelter, residential, detention). Check us out on the website
