Suitcases For Success

With a generous donation of $2500 from Ames 3M, AMP youth shopped and filled 25 suitcases for youth aging out of foster care in Story County.  Contents included bedding, alarm clocks, towels, assorted kitchen items and toiletries.  AMP members Micaela and Jenn are featured in this photo.

Leadership Ames Donates Suitcases to AMP Youth

Leadership Ames recently donated 20 “Suitcases for Success” to YSS’ Achieving Maximum Potential (AMP) group.  The suitcases filled with necessities are to help youth get started with items they need to live on their own at college or in their own apartment.  Six graduating AMP youth received the suitcases at an AMP Meeting on June 28.  Pictured above from left to right are AMP youth, Sam Lyon, Charles Avery, and Sheryl Cusick, Leadership Ames, and Maddy, AMP Youth.

During the AMP council meeting, members participated in a tradition where the group tells them positive ways that the grad has affected their lives since they have known them at AMP.  This activity is called: Who I Am Makes A Difference.  Graduates had a chance to talk about the people that influenced their lives as well and share their plans for the future.

Then we all enjoyed cake and ice cream!
