Course to College promotes a college-going culture in schools, school districts, and communities and throughout the state of Iowa through five steps:

  • Prepare (Early Awareness)
  • Apply (College Application Campaign)
  • Finance (FAFSA Completion & Financial Aid)
  • Decide (College Decision Day)
  • Go (Summer Melt prevention)

Each school can choose one of two levels of participation:

  • Participant schools participate as they are able and receive access to marketing materials, shared resources, weekly emails, weekly collaboration calls, and statewide data.
  • Partner schools commit to host application and decision events, use student-level data to increase FAFSA completion, develop plans for college preparation and summer transition, and provide survey data about the program to Iowa College Aid. In addition to the Participant school benefits, Partner schools are eligible for mini grants and AmeriCorps positions, and they receive student incentives, data reports, and programming materials.
