EBT Information

As child welfare service contractors working with children and families across the state, I’ve been asked to pass on the following message that is being shared with families regarding food assistance.

The following information is for Food Assistance ONLY. This does not affect any other benefits. Due to the federal shutdown, issuance of February Food Assistance benefits will be early. February benefits will be available on your electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card on January 17, 2019, instead of your regular February date. These are your normal February benefits, they are just being issued early.

The Department encourages you to budget your normal benefits to ensure they last through the month of February. As always, food pantries are available to those who need additional assistance.

Families may ask you questions regarding their food assistance benefits so the Department wanted you to be aware of the message being shared with them.  Since the February food assistance benefits will be early, families need to make their food assistance benefits last through February.  They will NOT receive additional food assistance benefits in February.

Families are encouraged to apply for benefits if they are not already receiving food assistance.  The application will be processed and an eligibility determination made.  However, the availability of funds continues to be uncertain even if the family is eligible.
